I started a photograph series called "Longing for peace" during Covid19 Pandemic. Instead of being in isolation and in fear during the difficult years, vintage traditional Japanese dolls enjoyed traveling places in California they never would have seen, with a new sense of adventure and nostalgia for lost time.

A few centuries ago during the Edo period, a costume doll was a traditional wedding gift to the bride within a samurai family, but played an important role as a substitute for tragedy. This gift continued as a Japanese custom till recently.

Through their adventures, as a good luck charm, these photos document their contributions in purifying the misfortunes of our world and protecting us in our day to day lives.
